How to Plan a Disney World Vacation

Disney World trip

You have booked a trip to Disney World but are not sure where to stay or cost efficient. Is it more expensive to buy a hotel or park ticket at the park entrance or park exit? Read this article to learn the Walt Disney World lodging and transportation recommendations to help you finalize your plans.

There are two types of visitors to Disney World. The first are those who have booked their travel well in advance either through Expedia or another travel agent. The price of their trip usually includes accommodations at Disney Hotels but not necessarily everything else. The second type of visitor to Disney World is either a member of a Disney ranch or a member of Disney’s Got Fun Club. Disney’s Got Fun Club members are offered amenities at package prices; members of Disney’s Got Fun Club can customize their own trip by visiting Disney’s IMAX Theater, putting together their own customized vacation package.

Disney World Transportation

Airplane. A tip I got from a friend who does Sacramento tattoo and recently got back for Walt Disney World is to make sure you fly there. You can take a plane to Disney World if you wish, flights generally leave around 10:30am and 7:30pm. Have your green card when you arrive to fly into Orlando International Airport (reservations are required for this option). Plane or helicopter tour is the least expensive way to tour Disney World.

Bus. A new contender to airplane tour is the bus. It’s a great way to get a large group of people to the park, especially on hot days. It’s less expensive than flying with the entire family. It also provides ground transportation to and from the park.

Trains. The resort is close to the massive T rail station. Train tours are very popular since the trip takes about 2 hours (1 hour on the bus). This allows kids to have fun while waiting for the bus, and it’s much less expensive than flying.

Choices. Rail tours offer a huge menu of tours. There’s a train that visits Magic Kingdom, others that visit EPCOT, and the timeless rides that visit other parks around the world.

waiting time. The biggest concern that can be found with bus tours is always finding parking. Because the buses are so popular, it can take quite a time to find a spot, let alone pay for it! Buses are easy to find and the parking lots are plenty big enough to accommodate a bus during peak season with plenty of places to stop, let alone walk around and enjoy the scenery.

walkup and down the stairs. When you add in the walking tours that the Magic Kingdom offers, your bus tour time will be more like 2 to 3 hours (scheduled or non-scheduled) with plenty of opportunities to rest and have fun.

boat tour. Take a boat tour and see the same sites the bus tour does plus a new appreciation for the great beauty of the park.

stand-by. This means that you’ll have plenty of chances to meet other tourists and locals while waiting for your bus tour. It’s a great way to socialize and see what’s around you.
