The Magic Of Trani In Puglia

a visit to Trani

Anyone visiting Italy on a school trip, be it in Trani or in another location, must make the time to sample the fabulous cuisine of this area of Italy. There are more than enough wonderful culinary delights on offer here to justify booking a meal in some of the wonderful trattorias. In Trani, as in the rest of this wonderful country, the food of the region is exceptional and there is a great deal more on offer than just pizza and pasta.

Fantastic seafood

The seafood is fantastic and there is simply nowhere else in Italy where you can find such high quality game fish, such low fat fish and shellfish and such wonderful vegetables. The seafood in Trani has always been considered “the best” and is available in the summer from July through September. In fact, during the winter months, if you want to be served the freshest seafood, it is not unusual to have a long queues of people waiting to be seated at the popular trattorias.

Great for families and those with children

The food in Trani is generally very healthy and children are allowed a lot more freedom here than in other places in Italy. There is, of course, the pizza passed around the tables of the family wherever there is a pause in the dining to refuel. The fish is cooked just as you would expect and the salads and onionotto are runts up at the tables.

A tip I got from a Houston roof replacement cost company was to try the bread. The wonderful bread served here is light and airy and the cheese used is of an excellent quality. The wines used are also of an excellent quality.

Where to find the best food?

Well, Trani is a great place to find a good meal any time of the day or night. If you are staying in a hotel in Trani, it’s always worth asking the hotel staff, as they tend to know where to get the best food at any time. Along with the pizza there are many other dishes on the menu and all provide a great place to sit and discuss the day’s activities.

Go to La Tavernia and ask the bar staff where you can find the locals eating. They will point you in the direction of something good and, once you have eaten, they will help you get back to your hotel by ferrying your things back and forth.

The town also has many great restaurants as it always seems to have a steady flow of well-known chefs from the surrounding areas visiting to conduct business and put their mark on the town. The food is worth coming to Trani for, and it is probably the thing that draws as many people to the town each year as the famous Etruscan ruins.

The town is in the Trani-Alto-Goretti National Park which, as the name suggests, covers the area including the Bay of Goretti, a little known natural area and a popular bathing place for the locals and visitors alike. Goretti is a great place to include on the itinerary of school trips and is a wonderful place to investigate the effects of environmental degradation on a local community. The residents of Trani are extremely proud of their historic site and welcoming to visitors.
